CHARACTER
Character Name: Hitoshi Shinso
Character Canon: My Hero Academia
Character Age: 15
World / History: wiki page // his fight vs deku
Canon Point: After the Sports Festival, once he's begun his training with Aizawa. (Post-Summer Vacation/Training Camp Arc)
AU Details: not applicable
Personality:
Hitoshi Shinso lives in a world where 80% of the population has a "quirk." This quirk is essentially a superpower and has made heroism one of the more revered career choices. Of course, some people with quirks choose to use them for evil and take up the mantle of villains. Hitoshi's quirk is essentially a villain's dream. So, since he was four, he's been hearing people talk about how his quirk could be used for evil. So, how did he cope with this? How did he deal with the fact that everyone he met immediately distrusted him?
He never stopped wanting to be a hero. He tolerated people's comments, that he'd heard a million times, assuming he'd do something untoward with his quirk. He still tried to enter the hero course at UA, even though his powers weren't suited to the exam. He threw himself at his goal, even if he wasn't sure how to accomplish it. He's determined to become what he wants to be, even if it's not understood.
Even when running into an obstacle, he starts looking for ways around the problem. This shows a certain degree of level-headedness. He's not free from frustration, though. Deep down he does feel hurt, betrayed, and like his dream is constantly being pried away from him. Some part of him resents people who got an easy lot in life- like a simple or heroic quirk. He doesn't ever let that resentment turn into inaction, though.
Some part of him does want to make friends and just be accepted. Currently, though, he's thinking of it as a dichotomy. He can either buckle down and become a hero or settle down into his "normal" life, try to hide his quirk, and give up. He doesn't want to give up so he's decided that friendship and playing nice are just things he has to sacrifice.
Integration Questions
how will your character handle being assigned a leadership role: Hitoshi doesn't have much experience in a leadership role. His quirk gave him the ability to issue others commands and so he's alright at delegating. Giving orders is a lot different from being a leader, though. As a leader, managing people's interpersonal conflicts, he would probably struggle. He's also not used to working in a team at all. So, he wouldn't refuse the role he would just struggle with it. That struggle would then also make him question if he was really capable of being a hero. Successes would strengthen his determination while failures would shake his confidence.
how will your character handle being assigned an antagonist role: Hitoshi will resent being given an antagonistic role. He's been struggling against his own power and constantly being assumed to be villainous. He will play the role because he's holding out hope they get some answers or firm ground to stand on. He has to believe that in order to not feel like absolute garbage when it comes to playing that sort of role. Despite his objections, he's not bad at playing an antagonist. When enough people automatically assume you're going to act like a jerk, sometimes you just act like a jerk.
how will your character handle the implication that they’re not real / are a clone: The idea that he's not the real "Hitoshi Shinso" is sort of two-sided. On one hand, it leaves him feeling very vulnerable. After all, everything he's worked towards will result in nothing if he's not real. On the other hand, he can take the idea that he now has the potential to overcome the limitations he felt back in "reality." He probably wouldn't separate himself from the identity of Hitoshi Shinso, he would just view himself as an improvement. Now, if they were to imply he was also expendable then that would provoke more outrage. He refuses to just roll over and die.
Powers
Powers / Enhancements: Shinso, like 80% of the population of My Hero Academia's world, has a quirk. His quirk is called Brainwash. When he speaks to a person, he has the ability to basically set a mental "trap." Once it's set, he needs the person to reply to him. If they reply, he can then trigger the trap and take control of the individual. The individual that's been brainwashed does not have conscious control of their body although they may be aware of their situation. If they are jostled or experience a shock they can break free of his control. He can control multiple people at once but he can only set the "trap" and activate Brainwash on one person at a time. It's theorized that trying multiple at once could cause him to pass out.
People under the control of his brainwashing obey tasks he gives them. However, they cannot use their higher cognitive functions. They can write and move according to his instructions but wouldn't be able to, say, write down what they knew about the layout of a building.
He can also dismiss brainwashing manually.
Nerf Details: Shinso's Brainwash will be powered down to the degree of an intense feeling of suggestion. People who respond after he sets the mental "trap" will feel a moderate desire to follow the instructions he gives. People with strong wills can choose to ignore this desire entirely and it's really more effective for influencing people rather than direct control.
OOCly, players will be allowed to choose what degree of influence their character feels from Brainwash- but it will never veer into the territory of "must do."

↬ Hugging
Go for it!
↬ Kissing
Go for it, although he may react poorly.
↬ Flirting
Go for it, I love shippy stuff, although flirting never has to lead to anything more.
↬ Fighting
I suck at writing fight scenes but if he deserves it go ahead and smack him.
↬ Injuring
See above. If it's anything that would, say, severaly impede his movement or threaten his life please check with me first!
↬ Killing
Only with plotting in advance, please.
↬ Telepathy
Permitted! Please let me know if your character is attempting anything and I'll provide more direct inner monologues as needed.
↬ Magic
Sure. Depending on context I don't mind cracky magic applications, either.
↬ Triggers
No in-character triggers. He has a bit of a complex about being mistaken for a villain but feel free to poke at that or don't.
↬ Anything Else?
In the My Hero Academia world, 80% of the population has a quirk. Shinso's quirk, Brainwash, allows him to control any person that responds to something he says. He tends not to use it on strangers but if it comes up in a thread I may contact you to be sure of your permissions!
